Hi! I’m actually making another blog post omg…

Mostly it’s to post art, since I kinda don’t wanna clog the gallery with a series of drawings if I can’t really find a way to put them all together without just putting them on the same canvas. But this is a concept piece, and I wanna explain my art here.

I follow artists on Instagram who draw ponies, and other Instagram accounts belonging to MLP collectors, and my friends like sending me pony stuff on there too, so therefore my feed is full of pony fandom stuff, whether I follow the account or not. So I often see people making reels and shit of pony fanart where they just turn the Mane 6 into something else. Humanizations, redesigns, and them as background ponies are the most common ones I see often. So I did them as background ponies. I felt like I could do better because I’m a taaadd bit of a hater, and lowkey hate how others have done it. They usually make them TOO dull, or not as recognizable. I guess what made me really do this was when I saw a short on youtube that I hope was a joke, where they just made Rarity bald.

So yeah, here’s my rendition of these horse girls

Pinkie Pie:

So I kinda took things literally and really made them background ponies by basing their designs off of existing background ponies. And I don’t mean the ones that gained a fanbase, I mean the lesser cared for incidental ponies. The ones you can see duplicates of in crowd shots from the earlier seasons. Pinkie just becomes one of the few background pony models with curly/fluffy hair. Kinda gotta keep that when it comes to Pinkie. Personality isn’t affected really, she’s still hyperactive, silly, still works at the bake shop, and throws parties. She’s just…not a main character.

Twilight Sparkle:

Just a unicorn from Canterlot who’s studying under the princess. Dunno if she gets sent to Ponyville by the princess though. Her cutie mark changed to just be 3 magenta stars instead of the one with 5 smaller stars surrounding it representing her friends, so her talent is still magic, but probably isn’t destined to make friends and save the world with them. Might still get wings one day though since she’s so close to the princess. Based her hair off of her toys as for some reason Hasbro likes giving her purple hair instead of the dark blue/purple hair she normally has.

Fluttershy:

I think people think that long hair = main character, so I see people usually shortening Flutter’s hair when doing this concept. I mean, I kinda did too but not by a lot. I tried using common background pony hairstyles for these, and this hair style and tail was the longest I’ve probably seen on a basic background pony. I considered changing the eyes because they were probably too different for a character who’s just supposed to be slapped onto somewhere to make a location look populated, but I’ve seen plenty of season 1-4 BG ponies with a tad bit more effort on their designs.

Rainbow Dash:

Okay this girl was tricky because she has so many colors, but I still wanted to keep that colorfulness in this design to justify her name. Because their names didn’t change, only their design. First I tried doing what the toys did and just made her mane red orange and yellow, then her tail being green blue or purple (Or something similar), but she still had main character energy despite a one time character basically having the same type of hair (G4 Toola Roola). So I tried for just primaries but it stiiilll kinda gave off MCE. Then I tried only red and yellow/orange because I wanted to at least use primary colors since I saw them as “Rainbow Lite”, and thought “well the coat counts as blue, sooo”, and I think I got it? Not too noticeable, yet still kinda rainbow colored. Kinda. Also gave her common pegasus hair, or really just Derpy’s hair since she has the same hair as other pegasi incidentals.

Applejack:

Based her off of the ponies found in Appaloosa, and some other ponies that apparently are part of her family. Since her family is huge, the animators used a bunch of background ponies to represent most of the members. One common style I saw was this ponytail tied with bows style, and thought it was perfect since AJ already has a tied up mane and tail. She keeps the hat because wearing clothes doesn’t make you a main character. All the ponies portrayed in Appaloosa literally have hats on. I keep talking about Appaloosa, but AJ still lives in Ponyville on the farm, doing what she’s always been doing.

Rarity:

She’s the most detailed, but I feel it doesn’t make her look like a main character because well…I BASED THIS DESIGN OFF OF AN EXISTING BACKGROUND PONY THAT’S BEEN AROUND SINCE SEASON 1!!! SADDLE, BOW, AND ALL!!! Normal Rarity wishes to live in Canterlot among high society. This Rarity does too, so I based her off a Canterlot background pony. Plus she’s a fashion designer and seamstress, so of course she’s gonna be wearing clothes all the time. Remember, the design changed but not the personality uwu

So yeeaahh, that’s my concept for the Mane 6 being background poniiesss. I wanna wrap this up quickly because it’s like 2:30 am and I wanna get to beedd. But yeah, hope this was an enjoyable read, and good night!!
